Moving to Washington DC

Washington DC is home to politics, world class art museums and restaurants, great schools, wonderful night life, and lovely architecture. You might be moving to Washington DC to go to school, to take a job with a lobbying firm, law firm, or politician's office, or to start a business of your own.

There is a right way and a wrong way of moving to DC. If you are moving to another state, the worst thing you can do is procrastinate. You can't afford to do that, sure it’s overwhelming but you’ve got to start immediately. In three months, when you're all tucked into your new apartment or house in DC, feel free to kick back. But right now, you've got your work cut out for you.

The first thing that you'll want to do to prepare for moving and relocating is to hire interstate movers. Do some research online. You'll read plenty of awful articles about people who were given a $1000 estimate for their move, then told that the actual fee was going to be $3000 or even $4000 the moment the movers finished loading the truck. It's an unfortunate reality of the moving business.

If you are lucky enough to have a moving company in the area that will guarantee its estimate, choose them. They're rare, but growing. If you can't find one of these movers, either rent a truck and move yourself.
